Major Moscow's Strikes Disrupt Electricity In Ukraine's Capital

Energy infrastructure targeted in Ukraine
The country's power facilities have come under increased attacks in recent weeks

Overnight, Moscow's aerial assaults have led to blackouts in large parts of the capital city, the Ukrainian capital.

A number of civilians were injured while residents in eastern neighborhoods were plunged into darkness and dealt with interruptions to water supplies, as stated by local authorities.

Simultaneously, a minor was killed in a separate Russian drone strike in the southeastern region in the country's south-east, as reported by regional authorities.

Russian forces has intensified attacks on power infrastructure over the last fortnight, while Ukrainian leadership has called for "concrete actions" from international partners to apply pressure on Moscow.

"What is required is not superficial actions but strong steps - from the United States, the EU and the major economies - in providing air defence systems and enforcing sanctions," mentioned in a online statement.

Authorities reported that 450 drones and several dozen projectiles targeted the country's power systems, labeling such assaults as "strategic and deliberate" and against "everything that sustains normal life" as winter approaches.

Government representatives said Russia was "launching a major assault" and maintenance teams were laboring to repair systems.

A series of attacks damaged power facilities and residential structures in the capital.

Multiple people injured in the strikes on the city have been taken to hospital, as confirmed by municipal representatives.

Local officials said the urban area came under heavy assaults during nighttime hours. A minor was killed and multiple civilians were wounded.

The attacks succeed nights of air raids in the area, parts of which are occupied by Russian forces.

All of Ukraine is under warning for hypersonic Kinzhal missile strikes, which are tougher to spot.

Authorities told journalists that Russia was purposely seeking to demolish the electrical infrastructure, with attacks already disrupting gas facilities.

Authorities confirmed technical personnel and officials were bracing for additional strikes.
